അയര്‍ലണ്ടിലെ പൊതുഗതാഗത സംവിധാനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് കൂടുതല്‍ ഉണര്‍വ് പകരാന്‍ പുതിയ ഇലക്ട്രിക് ബസുകളെത്തുന്നു. 120 പുതിയ ബസുകളാണ് അയര്‍ലണ്ടിന്റെ നിരത്തിലിറങ്ങുന്നത്. 80.4 മില്ല്യണ്‍ യൂറോയാണ് ഇതിനായി മുടക്കുന്നത്. പൊതു ഗതാഗത സംവിധാന രംഗത്ത് ഒറ്റത്തവണ മുടക്കുന്ന ഏറ്റവും ഉയര്‍ന്ന തുകയാണിത്.
ഇതില്‍ 100 ബസുകളും ഡബ്ലിന്‍ മെട്രോപോളിറ്റന്‍ ഏരിയയിലായിരിക്കും സര്‍വ്വീസ് നടത്തുന്നത്. ബാക്കി 20 ബസുകള്‍ Bus Éireann ന്റെ ഭാഗമായി ലിമെറിക്ക് ഏരിയയിലേയ്ക്കായിരിക്കും സര്‍വ്വീസ് നടത്തുക. ട്രാന്‍സ്‌പോര്‍ട്ട് സര്‍വ്വീസസ് ചീഫാണ് ഇക്കാര്യം വ്യക്തമാക്കിയത്.
കാര്‍ബണ്‍ ബഹിര്‍ഗമനം കുറച്ച് പൊതുഗതാഗത സംവിധാനങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള മലിനീകരണം തടയാനും ഇലക്ട്രിക് ബസുകള്‍ ഉപകരിക്കുമെന്ന് ഗതാഗത വകുപ്പ് മന്ത്രി പറഞ്ഞു. ഈ ബസുകള്‍ അടുത്ത വര്‍ഷം ആദ്യത്തോടെ നിരത്തിലിറങ്ങുമെന്നാണ് കണക്ക കൂട്ടല്‍.
